HIV COULD BE REDUCED TO A MINOR INFECTION

HIV could be reduced to a "minor chronic infection" akin to herpes, scientists developing a new vaccine have claimed. Spanish researchers found that 22 of 24 healthy people (92 per cent) developed an immune response to HIV after being given their MVA-B vaccine. Professor Mariano Esteban, head researcher on the project at the National Biotech Centre in Madrid, said of the jab: "It is like showing a picture of the HIV so that it is able to recognise it if it sees it again in the future." The injection contains four HIV genes which stimulate T and B lymphocytes, which are types of white blood cells. Prof Esteban explained: "Our body is full of lymphocytes, each of them programmed to fight against a different pathogen. "Training is needed when it involves a pathogen, like the HIV one, which cannot be naturally defeated". B cells produce antibodies which attack viruses before they infect cells, while T cells detect and destroy infected cells. The study showed that almost three-quarters of participants had developed HIV-specific antibodies 11 months after vaccination.Over a third developed one type of T cell that fights HIV, called CD4+, while over two-thirds developed another, called CD8+. Overall, 92 per cent developed some sort of immune response. However, that is not the same thing as being protected from HIV infection: the response could be inadequate to provide protection. Prof Esteban acknowledged the vaccine was at an early stage, describing it as "promising".

T.I Bank On His Grind

T.I. is currently in an Atlanta halfway house wrapping up an 11-month sentence for violating his probation.

The rapper is allowed to work however, and has been knocking out tunes with Pharell Williams and Big K.R.I.T.

DJ Drama says the Grand Hustle CEO is working at a rapid pace.

"I was in there the other day, by the second day that I went in I had already heard like 13, 14 songs; new songs," Drama told XXL. "Pharrell came the other day when I was in there. He dropped off a couple new joints. He already sent something the day before. That was done.

Tip is expected to drop a new song next week featuring Big K.R.I.T.

T.I.'s incarceration may have actually benefited one of his business ventures. A rep for his AKOO clothing line told TMZ that sales increased 25% while the rapper was away.

In addition to all the other things he's involved in, T.I. will be releasing a new fictional book titled Power & Beauty October 18. Check out the cover for it below.

Birdman Says YMCMB Will Beat Diddy To Billionaire Status. 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Dr Dre All In The Running.

With a net worth of around $550 million, Diddy has been picked by Forbes as the front runner to become hip-hop's first billionaire.

However, the Bad Boy CEO does have competition. Jay-Z ($450 million), Dr. Dre ($250 million), Birdman ($110 million) and 50 Cent ($100 million) are all in the running.

Birdman thinks he will beat Diddy to the Forbes 400 list.

I think Young Money Cash Money would be the first billion-dollar brand in hip-hop,” said Birdman in an email message to Forbes. “We strong and growing every day as a brand and fast. Within the next few years we will be billionaires.”

Meanwhile 50 Cent sees Hov as his main competition. He told Forbes' Zack O'Malley Greenburg, that he and Jay-Z use each other for motivation.

"We use each other," 50 explained. "If you're in a category, you have to find someone you respect enough to consider a competitor. And then you use each other in positive ways. They make a good move, you make a good move. If there's nobody for that, then there's no inspiration."

50 did concede that Jigga has an unfair advantage.

"He cheated," 50 said, grinning. "See, he hired this girl ..."

Who do you think will get to a billion first?

Bootlegging Really? Dame Dash Hit With 6 Counts Of Selling Liquor Without A License

Dame Dash is dealing with a new set of problems this morning.

Just last month the former co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records admitted to owing the IRS more than $2 million in unpaid taxes. Now comes news that the city of New York has hit Dash with six counts of storing and selling alcoholic beverages without a license.

According to the Village Voice, Dame's art gallery DD172 served as a "front for a suspected unlicensed club, a nuisance, a disturbance."

The gallery shut down in June of 2011, but some of Dash's former neighbors are still mad at him.

"Damon Dash was a terrible neighbor. It was always super loud, super noisy, tons of garbage in the street. All these 18-year-old kids smoking and drinking—real thugs. They were disrespectful to the neighborhood," said one neighbor, who claims that "the owner rented to Damon Dash to f*ck with the neighbors,"

MMG Taking More Shots At Young Jeezy? "No Motivation. Detox Dropping Before That Other Boy!"

Ricky vs. Young Jeezy beef has been slowly simmering, with both camps taking shots at each other over the last year.

The latest shot fired comes from Officer Ricky's Maybach Music Group, who seem to be getting at at Young Jeezy via twitter regarding rumors his album is being pushed back again.

Jeezy's album 'Thug Motivation 103' has been pushed back several times by Def Jam. It was announced two months ago that the album would be dropping September 20. But with that date fast approaching and no real promotion campaign rolled out some believe it will be pushed back again.

Will Jeezy respond to this latest diss?
